I am a jewelry designer/metal-smith. I work with gold, sterling, fine silver, copper and brass, as well as glass enamels which allows me the freedom to use color in my work. I cut and polish the semi-precious stones I use, designing settings that complement and enhance their natural beauty. Including artwork through the process of etching metal satisfies my love of sketching subjects from nature. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, hand made by me, using raw materials.
I was born in Los Angeles, California; lived in Ojai, California for thirty years where I raised my son. I moved to Santa Barbara in 2005 and stayed there for the past twelve years. I have created artwork in many forms throughout my life, and learned to work with metal and stone at the Wake Center in Santa Barbara. I have recently returned to Ojai to care for my mother who turned 101 years young this past May 2017. When not attending to my mother, I devote my time to designing art jewelry and gardening.
My passion is to create beautiful objects of perennial beauty, well made and worthy to be handed down to future generations. I hope to encourage others to see the inherent beauty of the world and respect its perishable nature.
I currently show my work at OVA Arts Gallery, 238 East Ojai Avenue, in the Arcade, Downtown Ojai, California. Also, you may view my work on Etsy: rebeccaplumjewelry
